“Gays for Trump” denied entry into Pittsburg Pride Parade.

Standard

Hey, guys so, it’s pride month obviously and I’m gonna talk about about my Pride experience in a post later, but this is important. I’ve always been taught “If you don’t stand up for something, you’ll fall for anything”. And that’s how I feel about this whole “Gays for Trump” movement. You  an be a Gay Republican and still fight and stand up for your community, I’ve seen it. But, to support a man and his administration, who is in such opposition to who you are is Ridculous. A man with nor regard for diversity and minorities. A man who hasn’t acknowledged Pride month.

I’m sorry, but if you expect to be welcomed into Pride, into our bars, into our lives with open arms, you’re sadly mistaken. You support a man who has said awful things about other minorities. Yoive turned your back on the community and everything that people DIED for, that you’ve been given today. You either have some self loathing you really need to work out, or you’re a rich, white person, that they can look past the gay in. Meaning they don’t actually accept you, you’re just getting a pass, and still will lose your rights. Fox news…(I knowwww) posted this article and I’m using it for a reason. Read it here

Here is the thing. Yes, Pride is about inclusion and it’s about acceptance, however, that’s not an excuse to just let anybody do and say whatever. These people in this organization apparently have a history of trolling the community and trying to impact certain policies of discrimination. Just as they have the freedom to do and say whatever, the pride committee has the freedom to tell them no. Remember friends freedom of speech is just that a freedom. It doesn’t mean it’s devoid of any social consequences from other who think what you say constitutes hate speech or some other form of divisive speech.

Let them get angry, let then try to sue, but remember, you’re aligning yourself with a President who did nott even acknowledge the fact that it is LGBTQIA+ Pride month. And who is working with people who want to take away our rights. Believe what you want, say what you want, but those are the facts and that doesn’t align with the ideology of Pride. And don’t get me wrong, that’s not to say that the LGBT community is perfect in anyway, there are problems. But, we try to keep Pride peaceful and loving. And having a group that has the reputation this one does, being involved, would’ve disrupted that. You may not agree with it, but that’s the decision that was made.
But, let’s look at this another way, if a religious organization or some other organization told s gay group they couldn’t be a part of something because “they don’t align with the ideas and values of the organization” the same people, the person who wrote this article, would be praising them, and not understand why the gay organization is angry. You can’t have it both ways.
Donald Trump isn’t a President for the community, people can believe whatever they want, but facts and figures will tell you that. The organizers didn’t want anything relating to him or his administration there, so they said no. And further more, I’m sick of people now claiming that liberals are more unfair and less about equality. No, American liberalism isn’t perfect, but it’s all very obvious rhetoric to turn people against liberalism. Because, again facts and figures will show which side favors equality more.

The fact is, these people did not believe that the organization aligned itself with the values of Pride and the Parade. The organization support an administration that is not LGBTQIA+ friendly, and have supported discriminatory legislation and policy before I’m the past. Pretty much fighting against themselves and their own community. They thought it’s be best if they didn’t show up, so they said no. I

Note: in the article the organizer of “Gays for Trump” said that people don’t always agree on elected officials and that is true, but this president has no regard for diversity or equality, and works with those who are fighting against YOUR community. So, “Gays for Trump” really check your privilege. That’s all I wanna say. Really look I’m the mirror, what are you putting before your community, your identity, and yourself? Is it the color (or lack thereof) of your skin? Is it some weird ideology of being “less gay”? Whatever is get it in check now and see which side of history you are standing on.
Another note: learn your history, Pride started out as a huge protest against a government that discriminates against queer people. I’m sick of people just trying to water down. It was a bloody event where people were wounded and carted off to jail. People like “Gays for Trump” need to remember that as well.

Music Monday: #5H3 Is Down the pop anthem of the summer?

Heyy everyone! Hope everyone is doing well! I am back with a song that I just HAD to talk about! So, Fifth Harmony just released a new song last week, and IT IS FIRE!!!! Well, at least I think so. Now, I have a bit of a checkered past with Fifth Harmony. I first discovered who they really are when I saw them live and in person at Demi Lovato’s Neon Lights Tour. At that point, I thought they were…good. They had some really fun music, good voices, and some nice moves. They really put on a good show. However, that night I also saw Little Mix for the first time, and they’d been out longer and were just more polished and put together as a group.

So, I didn’t take them super seriously. I thought they were really cute and might have a few hits, but otherwise, they probably won’t be the Pussycat Dolls or anything. Then, their album Reflections hit the scene and there were a few really good songs on that Album. And Camila was really starting to be showcased more and I thought that was great because her voice was really interesting. Their music had matured a lot and they seemed to be heading in a good direction. However, they had some rough live performances and my faith dropped.

Fifth Harmony’s debut album Reflections.

Then came 7/27…and everything changed. The single “Work From Home” came out and was an immediate infectious urban pop anthem. And don’t even get me started with the music video. For the first time, I was HIGHLY impressed with a 5H song.

Fifth Harmony’s sophomore album 7/27

And every single after that was fire! All in my Head (Flex) is probably my favorite. That one is a serious banger.

Now, to the new song ‘Down’. The first thing that I noticed right off the bat was how it had a very similar vibe to ‘Work From Home’, but the 2 songs are very different from each other. ‘Down’, to me, is a much more mature track, but still, retains the fun and vibe of WFH. They again go with a very simplistic, repetitive refrain that is catchy and easy to sing. They were smart, as they were with WFH, by using that same tactic. There’s more of an R&B vibe to this new jam, and it makes me wanna shake my ass forever.

I think one of the things that ‘Down’ has over WFH is the lyrics. WFH was a very simplistic song with simplistic lyrics and melody. I think the writing of ‘Down’ is more sophisticated, and I can’t wait to hear how this affects the rest of the album. The production of the song is also very crisp and sharp. It hits everything you need in a pop banger; the way the vocals and instrumentation are mixed, where the beat hits in the song and where the girls’ ad lib are all very pristine. With ‘Down’ they’ve really hooked me into this next album already. I am very excited about

How the poor white voter base, got to where it is

Standard

Hey everyone! I know it’s been a little bit since I’ve posted. I have so many thoughts and so many ideas sometimes, that it’s hard to put them all down. But, I knack and with something to say! I recently saw an article from the web publication The Nation, on Facebook. It was an article about how Hunter S. Thompson, author of Hell’s Angels, predicted the rise of Trumpism in America. You can read that article here

I’d like share this quote from the end of the article:

There’s no doubt about it: trouble lies ahead. That Hell’s Angels foresaw all this 50 years ago underscores the depth and seriousness of Thompson as a political thinker and of ours as a singularly dangerous time. Trumpism is about something far more serious than Trump, something that has been brewing and building for generations. Let us take Thompson’s cautions seriously, then, so that this time we Berkeley types are not naive about what we face. Otherwise, we’re all liable to get stomped.

This is an extremely interesting read. And an important one in these times. It’s a discussion that needs to be had as well; how do we stop this idea of ‘total retaliation’? What is it that we can do to make sure these people don’t feel like the only thing they can do is lash out in this way? We can’t possibly go backwards just for them to make them comfortable, but we can’t just keep leaving them behind. Something has to be done on both sides. These poor white voters need to realize that the world is changing and seek ways to deal with that, but the ‘elite’, as it is called on this article, needs to realize that not all of these people have the resources, knowledge or education to do so by themselves. But, also we must stand firm in pir conviction to stop ignorance and hate. It’s a very complicated time we’re living in. With someone like Trump in power, it just makes everything difficult, because now that there is someone who seemingly thinks like and works and works for some of the lower class white citizens, it feels like there is no listening to reason in some of them.
What is the solution? How do we break this cycle? How does it even happen? Are people just refusing to move on with the rest of the world? Is it because the world moves so fast now that they just get left behind in the dust?
The one thing I do know is this…yes we have to help this base of voters and understand them, but we can’t go back in time and we can’t allow hatred and intolerance to be the driving force of our nation and our society. We also can’t let politics and politicians divide us as a nation, everyone has their own ideals, but we are ONE NATION. We can’t allow lies and distractions from those in power to let us slip slowly into insanity and numbness. We have to keep working to better this country and this world for everyone!!
Remember don’t play ‘holier than thou’, though it won’t always be easy. But, also be vigilant in the fight against Trumpism and intolerance. We can’t allow that darkness to continue to spread.

A Read by Jaybo: Don’t come for my artistry.

Standard

So, I just had a conversation with someone on Facebook who was an acquaintance in high school. The topic was Lady Gaga. He posted an article for the LA times, and it was about her Coachella performance and how it fell kinda flat after the first half. Which is fine, I wasn’t there I can’t say. He’s not a fan of the new Gaga and that’s fine. So, I made a comment just starting conversation about the new Gaga and where she is. Literally just stating my thoughts on what the article said…and this bitch just decided to come for me. And pretty much acted like I had no idea what I was talking about, because “I’m in marketing”. Ugh! I literally studied performance, and I was just talking to another artist about art.

Then he tried to tell ME that I was just following the gay mainstream. First of all bitch, I’m my own mainstream. Secondly, who the fuck are you to tell me how I feel about things? I almost wanna post his name so y’all can go troll his ass, but I’m gonna keep it cute. But, how dare this, queen come for my fucking artistry. Lady Gaga is an artist who grew up with people telling her she couldn’t do it, or it wasn’t possible. Not to mention she uses such fascinating imagery in her work. She is a true artist. All she wants to do is make her Music and do her thing, which is what we all want to do.

And people be complaining about how they don’t like her new sound and they’re not fans anymore, well good! Trim the fucking fat because you weren’t a fan in the first place. It’s not like she just dropped the ball and did something horrible, she just did something different. If that something different wasn’t your thing, cool that’s fine. But, I enjoy it because I feel like she had something to say and she finally as an ARTIST said it her way! Yeah, she has some gimmicks, but gimmicks are how you stay in the fucking business. Then this fucker, we’ll call him Derrick Berry, tried to say that her new gimmicks aren’t to his liking…OKAY? You are not her, or her manager, or her PR team.

Ugh, whatever…I’m just really sick of this trend of Queer men “coming for eachother” and “throwing shade”. Especially these catty ass white Queer men who think it’s “cool” or “cute”; that shit isn’t about being a petty little bitch…in short I unfriended his ass and then he messaged me with this dumbass message : “Awe yay you best me to it on the unfriending good job. Have a great life bro. Accept who you are and quit trying to make your perspective sound special” but, set it so I couldn’t message back. That was kinda douchey to say, but if you ever read this know this:

You need to grow up. And I hope you do. You said that I was trying too hard to make my perspective special, whatever that means. You just dogged on me and like laughed because I was explaining something passionately, when you’re only real argument was like you were in marketing and could knew about marketing…I’m sorry but are you marketing personally for her? You would even discuss it forreal. And like you said “I’m an artist, too.” But, couldn’t give me anything forreal to back up, artistically, what you were saying. You also, kinda made the assumption that I was some how, slow or dimwitted and or that I was just following some crowd to devalue what I was saying?  A real artist would at least respect another artists opinion and try to see where they’re coming from. You, however, don’t have any respect. You go around toting this whole idea that you’re on a higher plane of existence, but really you use art to hide your insecurities, not explore them. And, i hope some day you do. But, you gotta be,willing to listen and give positive energy to others. Get off your fucking high horse because you’re making a little coin out in West coast, and learn some goddamn respect. Seriously, it’ll make life so much better. I hope life treats you kinder.

And with that I’m going to bed. Night all!

Why Isn’t Anyone Talking About The Radicalization of Whites?

Many of my white friends have become Radicalized

What do white people got to be so angry about? ~ Chris Rock

A while back ago I spoke in great pain on how I’m losing friends fighting racism.  I talked about how one can have friends (white) who will invite you (black person) to a Christmas dinner, but will engage in vehicular manslaughter when it comes to Black Lives Matter protesters.  What I didn’t really discuss was this radicalization process among the white community in America which makes such violent ideas possible.

Radicalization?  You probably never really took a look at it. You’re probably wondering what am I talking about.  Radicalization?  What radicalization?

My Extreme Case of Block

Standard

Hey there, readers!

So, I haven’t really posted here in a while, which really sucks, I really like writing on this blog. But, lately, I just haven’t been able to find the inspiration to write. I’m not sure what it is. I have so much that I want to say and that I want to talk about, but when I sit down to actually write, I lose all of my words and ideas.

It could be because I’ve been having a spiritual battle of sorts with myself. I think that I’m starting to really find my purpose in the world, and what I’m doing with this blog; but there is still some uncertainty there that I think keeps hindering me. I need to revisit the goal I want to accomplish with this page and all of my pages overall.

I hope to soon be back here. There is so much that I want to say and, by god, I’m gonna say it!

Thank you for following me and thank you for sticking with me!
